EW interview with Chris Weitz

EW.com has a nice little interview with Chris Weitz up on their website. Chris talks about turning the book into a movie, the reviews, the paparazzi, and much more. My favorite part of the interview is when he talks about Taylor and Kristen:

What do you think is Taylor’s best scene?
When he jumps into Bella’s room. There is so much pathos there even though it’s melodrama, there’s something touching about it. Or maybe the last moment he has, just when he says Bella’s name. You sort of understand just how crushed he is at that moment. There are a few times where he’s absolutely that guy and it’s really lovely. He’s that guy for the fans and that’s what I always thought he could do.

Do you think Kristen evolved as an actor in this movie?
I’m not sure she evolved as much as she had room to run. She’s a thoroughbred as far as actors go. To me, she can do no wrong. The experience of working with her and the caliber of work she was doing was pretty extraordinary. Let’s put aside girl in love with a vampire, her ability to manifest these emotions below the surface, above the surface just to get things right. She’s extraordinarily exacting of herself and in those moments where I was able to give her the room to do that are things I’m very proud of. That’s a high point.

Kristen, Rob, and Taylor’s TV appearances

If you missed the many many many interviews that Kristen, Rob, and Taylor did last week in promotion of the release of New Moon, no worries, E! Online has put together clips of the trio’s best talk show moments. I agree with E! Online that the same old questions were asked of the three stars but luckily E! Online put together a package of clips of some of the more entertaining moments.

New Moon EW cover

New Moon cover of Entertainment Weekly

I just got a chance to sit down and read the New Moon cover story from last week’s Entertainment Weekly and let me just say if you haven’t read it yet, you must. It is such a cute little interview with Rob, Taylor, and Kristen that really exhibits the great relationship these 3 seem to have. They chat about how life has changed post-Twilight, Rob’s famous locks, and they even address romance rumors…somewhat.

The Twilight Saga in Time Magazine

Time Magazine has a great article up on their website that looks at the world of Twilight. The article of course gives the background on how Twilight came to be, the search for the perfect Bella and Edward, and the phenomenon that the Twilight Saga has turned into. But perhaps the most interesting piece of information from the article is Catherine Hardwicke’s comment on Rob and Kristen:

By all accounts, the chemistry between the two leads was intense, maybe too intense. “After I cast him, I told Rob, Don’t even think about having a romance with her,” Hardwicke says. “She’s under 18. You will be arrested.” It was the beginning of the real-life are-they-aren’t-they, did-they-didn’t-they speculation that is now an ongoing subplot of the Twilight story. “I didn’t have a camera in the hotel room. I cannot say,” Hardwicke says. “But in terms of what Kristen told me directly, it didn’t happen on the first movie. Nothing crossed the line while on the first film. I think it took a long time for Kristen to realize, O.K., I’ve got to give this a go and really try to be with this person.”
